School Bus Safety Week

October 19-23 is National School Bus Safety Week. Hesston USD 460 extends sincere and deep appreciation to our bus drivers and transportation personnel who provide safe transportation to students on regular routes, special education routes, and voc-ed routes; and to students and coaches for inter-scholastic activities.

To put things in perspective, in the 2025-26 school year, our bus drivers covered a total of 121,438 miles--this is nearly equivalent to five trips around the world! Using this same number of miles, you could make 20 round-trips to Miami, FL; plus four round-trips to Fairbanks, AK; plus eight round-trips to Portland, ME in one year! You can see why our bus drivers' dedication and service is so impressive.

In addition to bus drivers, all parents and community members who drive on Kansas roads are important to bus safety. Always stop behind a school bus when its stop arm is out. Children's safety, and their future, depend on this. Please thank a school bus driver when you see them and remember, "Stop Today. Protect Tomorrow."
